Samsara Song #1: "The Water Within"

Paul Gleason
Samsara Song #1: "The Water Within"

Our backs on the ground,

Looking at the night,

The stars were way up

To their very height,

And we breathed.

We rushed down the hill,

Pushed by our speed.

We had no control,

Gravity bound.

Into the forest,

Across the trees,

I slipped and fell in,

Into the water within,

The water within.

And down,

I hit the bottom.

And down,

I know you're gone.

And down,

I feel so low.

And I  rise.

I shed my clothes,

Naked in the sun,

They don't drag me down.

They don't pull me under.

And I rise again.

And so it goes:

The water within.

You're gone for now,

But we'll meet again.

You're the water,

Beneath my skin.

I could have loved you more,

But I never did.

And with each passing day,

I drop another tear your way.
